Workshop 10: Supporting Teachers' Assessment Designs with Artificial Intelligence Tools
By Heejung An, William Paterson University of New Jersey
One of ChatGPT's most useful features for teachers is its capability to generate rapid, dynamic and diverse assessment questions. In this workshop, the participants will be introduced to generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) to craft a variety of assessment questions or revise their current assessment questions, such as for closed and open ended tests, essays, and true-and-false questions. They will also learn how to generate assessments in multiple languages with AI tools.
Target Audience: K-12 Teachers
ISTE Standard Addressed: Educators 2.7.b (Use Tech to Create Assessments)
Workshop 11: Educational Technology and the PreK-12 Environment: Implications for Education Leaders, Teachers, and Students
By Neil Grimes, William Paterson University of New Jersey
Educational technology has accelerated in recent years and it has had a profound impact on current teaching and learning in the Pre-K-12 environment. In future years, advancement and innovation in technology will continue to empower teachers to customize students’ learning experiences. To accomplish this, teachers will need ongoing professional development which includes engaging in learning activities associated with Technology Play Theory that focus on educational technology and technology integration involving the Technology Integration Planning Cycle (TIPC). This presentation will provide an overview of the current state of educational technology in the PreK-12 environment including the areas of virtual reality, augmented reality, the metaverse, and artificial intelligence. Recommendations will be given for educators to explore and engage in learning how to use innovative digital learning tools and access existing micro-credentials centered on educational technology available through the National Education Association (NEA).
Target Audience: PreK-12 Teachers and School Administrators
ISTE Standard Addressed: Educators 2.2.a (Advance a Shared Vision)
Workshop 12. Usage of Artificial Intelligence Image Generators to Foster Creativity Across the Subjects
By Triada Samaras, Kean University
Artificial intelligence (AI) art generators create images and/or illustrations in various styles based upon prompts provided by users. These tools have important implications for teaching and learning in art education and in other content areas, including literacy, science, and math. In this workshop, participants will be introduced to various AI art generator tools and ideas for their use to foster creativity in various classrooms. Participants will be encouraged to explore and experience this technology, brainstorming future uses for their individual classrooms.
Target Audience: K-12 Teachers
ISTE Standard Addressed: Educators 2.6.d (Model and Nurture Creativity)
